I’ve heard several claims from some who have inserted a tube into the smoke stack to lower it some in an effort to see more even temps from end to end and between the lower and upper racks.
Have you done any testing to verify the effectiveness, or lack of, when lowering the smoke stack? I figure you are the only reliable source of information available.

Great question John.
I have not tested it. I have heard that some see a benefit so I am interested to learn more. I like what I hear about it but question whether the worst of the exhaust is properly exhausted when this modification is done. This winter I plan to experiment with this modification.
