The 2014 Lang BBQ Smokers Competition Team Story

Corree Wood Schurman tells us

Originating from Gresham, Oregon, Corree Wood Schurman began competing in Pacific Northwest bbq competitions in 2011 after watching the BBQ Pitmaster TV series. At that point, she made it her goal to compete on that show!

After devoting all of her spare time to working towards perfecting her BBQ craft (winning several awards along the way), and finally getting her very own Lang 84, Corree finally made one of her BBQ dreams come true when she teamed up with another solo female BBQ cook (Lynnae Oxley) and competed as Sugar’s BBQ on the 2013 season of BBQ Pitmaster! Not only did their team do incredibly well on the show, but while filming their first episode she meet her current competition BBQ teammate for Lang BBQ Smokers (and significant other), Brad Kay.

In late 2013, Corree moved across out to South Carolina, to be in the middle of BBQ country. And, since competing together in mid 2013, the duo has won multiple 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards as well as 2 Reserve Grand Championships and one Grand Championship.
